GILAS

In an era of advanced Information Technology, the Filipino youth, especially public school students, are deprived of the opportunity to explore the educational benefits of the Internet. Before GILAS was launched in January 2005, around 40% of public high schools in the Philippines have computer laboratories and less than 6% of these schools were connected to the Internet.

This concern prompted the business sector and civic organizations in the Philippines to undertake GILAS, which stands for Gearing-up Internet Literacy and Access for Students. GILAS aims to bring the Internet to all 6,000 public high schools in the Philippines by 2010.

You can do your share in giving our high school students access to new and supplemental educational resources available on the Internet.

Donate. We welcome any amount you can contribute to GILAS, to be pooled with other resources from equally generous donors. Or you may choose to give $2,500 that will connect a school with computer laboratory and Internet while a donation of $6,500 will give a school a computer laboratory and Internet connection.
